More speed

I had a great swim this morning. 2 x 500 meter sets plus a bunch of other drills made for about 1500 meters total. I am really starting to like the improvements. I can get more distance into my 45 minutes envelope of time.

The real key to my accomplishment this morning is that the Half Iron-man swim distance is 1900 meters with a time limit of 70 minutes. This means that today, given 70 minutes I should have made about 2300 meters.

The down side is that I am doing pool laps, and Ironman takes place in open water. Swimming against waves with nothing but black below you in really cold water means I need to be able to swim the said distance in much less time. I also need to think about a wetsuit and get some training time in one of those.
