Pirates Inspiration

More work on the treasure hunt as we close in on vacation date. Pictured is the inspiration pieces behind our treasure hunt:

D inspire

The Goonies map and copper bone were purchased in Astoria from the Jail/museum during our road trip down south last year. The doubloon is an on going project that I have made from scratch. It has been sitting buried in the garden for the last 2 months to create a bit more corrosion and patina on the surface to get an aged look.

I have been creating my own version of the map that will correlate to the campground we are staying at this year. But I don’t want to post pictures yet, as my nephews may actually see visit my webpage from time to time, and I don’t want any more spoilers on the net. The one thing I am willing to share at this point is a pirates poem I wrote for part of the whole plan:

Shark Tooth Vinney, was the last too see

That Peg-Leg Pete, had a skeleton key
The pair were searching, until they did sink
For that cursed diamond, we’ve all heard is pink
Now some have said, they had a watery clue
That was bound in hemp, deep under the blue
Twenty nine nights, the moon not to be seen
Pete dove into the black, whilst shimmering green
Caution to the wind, Pete got himself burned
Thus he entered the Black Forrest, but never returned.

Ultimate Treasure Hunt

My brothers and I are building an epic pirate/goonies themed treasure hunt for all of our kids this year during our big family camping trip. Things are starting to come together. We want the treasure hunt to last pretty much the full 10 days we are together, with the final BIG TREASURE find on the last day before we leave. To keep the kids motivated and interested in this event, we have designed several smaller treasure finds along the way. There are several puzzles and skill testing clues which will take some work from the older cousins, there are also some language translation clues that the younger cousins can help with. If all works out, it will take the collective effort of all the kids to unlock all the different elements in order to piece together the hidden location of the final Prize! I can’t wait to get this under way.
